Knauss (Knauß)- Pure Pinot Blanc 2019
Producer: Weingut Andi Knauss
Region: Württemberg | South Germany
Grapes: Pinot Blanc
Certified Organic | Natural
Knauss – Pure Pinot Blanc is one for the more adventurous drinker, or the Pinot Blanc and orange wine aficionados among you. It’s medium bodied, full of character and definitely on the tangy end of the scale. Clearly this had had quite a bit of skin contact.
Orange verging on amber wine with aromas reminiscent of fruit pastry and roast squash, mellow and peachy texture in the mouth with flavours of spiced golden pears and cider apples locked together by lovely natural acidity.
Pairing. The producer recommends smoked Eel and Smoked Trout, which I can imagine being a good match, but like all of the fuller orange wines, it is perfect for pairing with all manner of stronger flavoured dishes where a red just wont go, and most whites simply wont cut it. I would suggest Moroccan food, Tuna Pasta, roast chicken or spicy chicken. If you need something to cut through the strong flavours, this is the one.
Knauss – Pure, Pinot Blanc is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
More about the producer:
Winemaking was only a hobby for earlier generations of the family but Andi Knauss knew for a long time that he wanted to become a vigneron. Having trained in Austria, where Andi learned how to work organically in the vineyard, he took over the reins at Weingut Knauss in 2004 and now makes wines from over a hundred different plots in Strumpfelbach.
