Description
Fedele – Rosso 2019
Winemaker: Stafano Chioccioli
Country: Italy
Region: Sicily
Grapes: Nero d’Avola 70% / Shiraz 15% / Merlot 15%
This is a really great wine and a welcome addition to our sparsely populated sub-£10 wine list. It is increasingly difficult to find a really good wine under £10 and though there are a multitude of organic sub-£10 wines out there, most are simply not good enough to make my list, so I was delighted when I tried this. Less niche and more accessible than their Nero d’Avola, this is very much an affordable, everyday crowdpleaser and excellent value for money.
Ideal served with meat pizza and meat / tomato-based pasta dishes, but also with cold and cured meat platers.

More from the producer:
Winery
TWP Wines is run by Stefano Girelli, whose family has been at the heart of Italian winemaking for three generations. Stefano’s portfolio stretches the length of Italy, from the Veneto, to Tuscany, to Puglia and Sicily, and places a strong emphasis on Stefano’s passion for organic methods. Many of the wines are certified organic (and vegan!) and all are made in an eco-friendly way, with a long-term commitment to the environment.
Grapes
The grapes are grown on the Trapani hills, using the traditional Spalliera system.
Vinification
The grapes are destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures not exceeding 28°C with frequent pumping over in the early stages in order to ensure optimum colour extraction and soft tannins. After fermentation, the wine is racked and the malolactic fermentation takes place.
