Fedele – Bianco 2019
Winemaker: Stafano Chioccioli
Grapes: Catarratto 80% ; Inzolia 10% ; Grecanico 10%
Fedele – Bianco is another new and rather lovely addition from Fedele to our sub-£10 wine list. It is increasingly difficult to find a really good wine under £10 and though there are a multitude of organic sub-£10 wines out there, most are simply not good enough to make my list, but this lovely blend certainly is great value for money. The Wine People have become synonymous for good quality affordable Italian wines, and winemaker Stafano Chioccioli has built up quite a portfolio under various different labels across the country.
Citrusy on the nose with lemongrass and white peach. On the palate it is classic Catarratto, gooseberries and lemongrass give way to pineapple and French Golden delicious apples. It has a nice, spikey acidity to it, which fits the wine perfectly.
Fedele – Bianco is ideal served with white fish, seafood pasta and oysters.

Grapes are selected from some of the best vineyards in the Trapani area. This vineyard area is one of the most characteristic and typical of the region, with a predominance of white grapes. Vine training is by traditional Spalliera system.
The grapes are vinified separately – the Cataratto on its own and the Inzolia and Grecanico together. After the fermentation of Cataratto is finished, the two wines are blended and kept on fine lees until the end of December.
