Combel-La-Serre – Le Pur Fruit Du Causse 2017

£13.40

I lovely Malbec from the Cahors region in France. Classic Malbec style with bramble fruit and grip. And, with a return to lower alcohol reds being in favour this should definitely be on your list. Beautiful with Carbonnade of beef, spicy sausage and baked aubergines.

Combel-La-Serre – Le Pur Fruit Du Causse 2017

Producer: Julien Ilbert

Country: France

Region: Cahors

Grape: Malbec

Combel-La-Serre – Le Pur Fruit Du Causse 2017 is made from organic Malbec grapes from a 5-hectare plot in the village of Cournou, 36-year-old vines planted on causse limestone and clay. Traditional short fermentation with the aim of maximum fruit extraction, aged on lees in cement tanks. No oak.

Bright, intense purple colour, recognisably Malbec with bramble fruit and grip, yet at just 12.5% alcohol it’s a genuine vin de soif – even for serving slightly chilled in warmer summer months. Radically brilliant.

Pairs well with Carbonnade of beef, barbecues, spicy sausages, baked aubergines.

Production: 40,000 bottles

Cellaring: 2022+
